Please Help Aleksey and His Family

Dear Friends,
We ask for your help for a beloved member of our Chicago Russian and tango communities: Aleksey Atramentov - whom so many of you know and love, have been friends with and danced with - is in the battle of his life with the final stages of brain cancer.
A loving husband to his wife, Irena, and devoted father to his daughter Milanochka, Aleksey was diagnosed with stage-4 Glioblastoma on July 6, 2013 after suffering for two weeks with headaches.
Aleksey bravely underwent emergency brain surgery when Irena was 8-months pregnant. Instead of being the happiest day of Aleksey and Irena’s life, the birth of their daughter was unfortunately tarnished by Aleksey having to start radiation cancer treatments that same day.
For the past two years, Aleksey tried multiple experimental treatments to prolong his life. In 2014, the tumor came back and, in December 2014, Aleksey had futher and more aggressive brain surgery which, unfortunately, led to multiple complications, frequent hospitalization, and continued chemotherapy.
Right now the tumor is growing aggressively in a place that is not operable so Aleksey is currently in hospice.
This brilliant man with a Ph.D. in physics, a beautiful person, loving family man and kind and loving friend is being taken from us after only 38 years. Aleksey leaves his wife, 2-year-old daughter, parents, in-laws and grandmother.
We ask for your help for Irena and Milanochka. Any assistance would go a long way towards helping with arrangements for Aleksey’s final care.
