Compassionate, loving and thoughtful are just a few words to describe Scott Genninger. His love for his family, friends, and animals is infectious.
Scott, a young man of 32, born and raised in Syracuse, has always endured pain and discomfort since he was 18 and was diagnosed with tumor behind his eye. However, recently the pain he experienced in his back increased progressively to a point where he was admitted to the hospital. After various tests, numerous days with no answers and hours of worrying, his nightmare started.
On Monday, November 30th, Scott was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This cancer is of the myeloid line of blood cells, characterized by the rapid growth of abnormal white blood cells that accumulate in the bone marrow and interfere with the production of normal blood cells.
Since then, Scott has been transported from Lakeland Regional Medical Center (LRMC) in Lakeland and accepted into Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. His journey officially started on Saturday, December 5th with the amazing team of doctors and loving, nurturing nurses. Scott has been suffering with so much pain, high fevers, and shortness of breath. His family has been by his side every minute of every day. This shocking news has devastated our family, but with strength and positivity, we are confident that Scott will fight hard.
Scott has had 2 bone marrow biopsies and starts chemotherapy this week. He has a long journey ahead of him and is so appreciative for everyone who has reached out. He enjoys being surrounded by family/friends, emails, Facebook messages, text messages, letters and the comfort of knowing his family is there to hold his hand, encourage him to walk and keep his spirits high. Please keep sending your thoughts and prayers.
Scott and his family are not people who ask for support. They are deeply appreciative for any donations that will be made to this fund. Your donations will help with medical expenses and crucial necessities. His family has been traveling daily back and forth from Lakeland to Tampa, eating out and rushing to be by his side. Their #1 focus is Scott and we want to keep it that way.
Thank you in advance for all your donations and no amount is too small!
