I'd like to ask for help for my friend, Colleen, who has just lost her only child, Adam Hanes-MacKean, at just 25.
Adam took his own life for reasons that are unknown, as is the case with most situations like this. Adam will be terribly missed by his family and friends. He was incredibly smart, kind, talented and adventurous - and put his special Adam flair on every thing he did. He had recently joined the classmates at West Valley College to study engineering - he had bright aspirations and things were looking up. No one could see this coming... unfortunately he felt this time this was the answer. It's so final, so heart breaking, and such a helpless feeling to try and help someone going through this. There are no words.
I'd like Colleen to not have to worry about the expense of Adam's cremation. She has recently gone back to full-time work, so times are still a bit tight. Her employers graciously picked up her ticket to go to San Jose tomorrow to handle Adam's final effects. They have been amazingly supportive and I am so impressed with how much comfort they have provided her.
Please join me in supporting Colleen in this time of sadness. Any amount donated will help with travel expenses and funeral services.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
