After 7 long years of dialysis, my mom has finally been moved to the top of the waiting list to receive a kidney transplant. This means that at any time now, my mom will receive a phone call to let her know that a kidney is ready for her and that she will need to get to the hospital ASAP. The problem with this is that the transplant hospital is located in San Francisco, and after the surgery is complete, she will need to stay in California for a whole month while she recovers. We don't know when the call will come, so we need to be prepared for when it happens.
