I have been a close friend of this family for many years. Madisen and Kyle were married in July 2024 and hoped to start a family, though conceiving was uncertain due to Madisen’s endometriosis. In February 2025, they were overjoyed to learn they were expecting their first child.
During the pregnancy, they discovered their baby would have Down syndrome, yet they embraced the blessing and prepared to give her every chance at a full life. Their daughter, Lainey, was born on October 23. Shortly after, she required surgery for duodenal atresia and a malrotation, where doctors also removed her appendix. She is now stable and expected to go home on November 30.
Madisen will be discharged tomorrow, and she and Kyle will begin traveling to the hospital each day to remain by Lainey’s side. Doctors have stressed that their presence is critical for her health and for Madisen’s milk supply. They continue to pay rent and other essential expenses while neither can work, especially with Madisen recovering from a C-section. The hospital is 42 miles from home, and traffic often turns the trip into a two-hour drive each way.
They urgently need support with housing and basic living costs so they can remain close to Lainey during this critical time. Any contribution will help this family stay together and give Lainey the best start possible. Thank you for your kindness and support.
