Hi friends! Mose Krueger, pup of Jackie Krueger, needs our help. Mose developed a limp in his right rear leg in November. Upon investigation, it was found to be a mass of unknown etiology. Throughout November and December it began growing at alarming speeds and causing Mose boi more discomfort. Jackie took him her local vet for imaging, and later to see a local oncologist in Edmonds who performed tests and came to the conclusion that it was likely a sarcoma, or aggressive bone cancer. The recommendation for treatment being amputation of his right rear leg and chemotherapy.
On December 22, Mose underwent his amputation and is officially a member of the “tripawd” community.
He has shown incredible resilience in his recovery and was walking just hours after surgery. His joy and love of life cannot be limited with loss of a leg. He is already asking to play with the love of his life “ball”.
The road to recovery is still ahead for both Mose and Jackie as they navigate slowing learning to live with one less leg and redefine how they move about the world together. Mose has had his first chemotherapy regimen with a clinical trial medication that will hopefully help his body recognize the tumor and prevent new growth.
Biopsy results are still pending and we hope to know more in the coming weeks.
How can you help? Great question! The work up, surgery and chemotherapy are quite costly for Mose and Jackie. If you are able to donate to help defer costs, that would be most appreciated. If you can’t, perhaps send Jackie and Mose well wishes and they navigate this next chapter.
Thank you friends and family!
Love,
