Twelve-year-old Austin has just received the heartbreaking diagnosis no child should ever face: an aggressive cancerous brain tumor that requires immediate treatment.

No one wants to start the new year like this, but sometimes cards are dealt, and all you can do is what's needed.

Austin is an incredibly caring boy with a heart bigger than most adults. He’s always thinking about the people around him: constantly checking to make sure everyone is okay. He adores his brother Carter and is always looking out for him with genuine concern and love. He’s the kind of kid who becomes a favorite cousin and friend to everyone who meets him—gentle, thoughtful, and quick with a kind word or a smile.

Treatment will begin with chemotherapy, and radiation, and because specialized pediatric care requires it, Brad and Kristen will need to make regular trips from their home in Lethbridge to Calgary for many of these sessions and follow-ups.

This intensive schedule means Brad and Kristen will have to take extended time away from work—weeks and potentially months—to be fully present for Austin through every appointment, every side effect, every uncertain moment.

The unknowns are overwhelming: how Austin will respond to treatment, what side effects will come, how long this chapter will last, and how to keep their family afloat financially while prioritizing his care. Our hope is to alleviate the crushing added stress of wondering how to cover the mortgage, groceries, travel expenses, and other everyday bills that don’t pause even when life gives us no other option.

Austin is fighting the battle of his life and deserves to have his family by his side. It is difficult to fathom or truly comprehend what Austin and his family must now face.

Our hope is simply to remove the burden of expense and allow them to focus on Aussie, their time together, and the grueling journey ahead.
