Unfortunately,  a devastating situation has happened to our rink. The board has recently discovered that one of our most trusted parent volunteers and previous board member has been embezzling from the North Valley Hockey accounts and funds for several months. Not only has this person embezzled all of our money (several thousands of dollars), they left our rink in crippling debt. While we have all worked extremely hard to make sure that our children have a facility and have been raising money for a new floor and the future of the rink, one person has tried to ruin it for all involved. At this time there is an active and ongoing police investigation, as all board members held an emergency board meeting and voted unanimously to press criminal charges to the fullest extent of the law. While hindsight is 20/20, we have immediately put into place several different precautions and have started enforcing some changes to our procedures, so that no one, no matter how trusted, can steal from our children and this organization again.

At this time, we are desperately trying to raise $15,000 in hopes that if we can pay our landlord, they will allow us to stay open as an organization, and continue to serve families in the Butte, Glenn, and surrounding county areas. We will not have a decision until sometime next week from them whether or not they will continue the eviction process, however we are in hopes that if we are able to raise enough money, they will be understanding of our situation and willing to continue to allow us to lease the building in Hamilton City and not follow through with the served notice and eviction. At this time, that is the only creditor that we are waiting on for an answer.

We are pressing forward, confident that every parent, child, adult league player, family member, community business and member will pull together to create a tight knit hockey family to help this great program survive. There are three things you can do immediately to make this happen. 1. Donate, no matter the amount, to North Valley Hockey's online website donations tab, and remember, all donations are tax deductible. 2. Get online today and signup for the fall season. 3. Find new players in any age group and help them get signed up.
