Porcupines home burned down
Dear kindhearted strangers
I am a volunteer at a small animal shelter, located in the north of germany, that has saved well over a thousand animals since it opened in 2001. Recently we got a small group of porcupines, that have been confiscated by local authorities, because they were held under bad conditions.
We wanted to help and give them a permanent home, so we quickly built a small house and an big enclosure where they would have everything they needed.

But sometimes, things don´t go as planned....
Just a few days after they moved into their new home, it completely burned down.
Fortunately the fire didn´t spread, and all porcupines survived due to a lucky coincidence: They were supposed to be locked inside by the time the fire started since it was already late, but they were still outside because the owner of the shelter came home later than usual.
The fire was most likely caused by a faulty heat lamp.
Now we need your help! Winter is already a difficult time of year for us, since we get far less donations from visitors. It is cold outside and the animals need a new house as soon as possible! For now they are living inside with us, but it is far from ideal. We would be very grateful for even the smallest donation.
Love, Jessica
