As an independent college student at Westfield State University, I wish to pursue furthering my education and in doing so I earned the incredible opportunity to experience an internship in the heart of Washington DC. I am excited to share that I wish to further pursue my education and will be going to DC this summer of 2019. In order to qualify or be applicable for this internship I was expected to maintain and hold above a 3.0 grade point average, while continuing with a multiple step application process. I gratefully accepted this as a challenge and continued to go further with the application. The application process included- a statement of interest short essay, issue essay, resume, transcript, along with two letters of recommendation. Once completed, two short days later I was humbly accepted. Now I am continuing on with the Washington Center multiple step process. I completed a community profile along with undergoing an online interview where I was asked various questions, such as what education meant to me and what my intentions are while interning. Being an independent student with a dream isn’t always easy, especially financially. During this internship I am responsible for the application fees, program fee, along with funding my housing during my stay over the summer. After adding the expenses the total comes to $12,250. Without hesitation, I gratefully accepted a scholarship of $5,000 to deduct from my total Washington Center internship cost. I received this scholarship for maintaining above a 3.0 (GPA) grade point average in both my Criminal Justice and Political Science majors. My goal is to raise enough money to be able to attend this incredible experience in Washington D.C. during the summer of 2019. I have absolute faith in the opportunity that was presented to me and know that this is something to take advantage of for my future. The amount to fundraise is : $7,250. Thank you so very much for all your support. Anything contributed is humbly appreciated.
