Hi I'm Ami Angelwings, you may know me as the person who runs Escher Girls, and as the Twitch streamer sith_princess.

This is unfortunately kind of embarrassing to talk about but I really need the help so here goes...

Since March 2025 I've been suffering from painful daily digestive and rectal symptoms which doctors misdiagnosed or ignored for over a year (including telling me they were in my head). The pain and suffering I've dealt with has been daily and it's severely destroyed my quality of life to the point that I had considered applying for medically assisted death when it seemed like there was no hope. Living was a nightmare, and it still is so tough to get through each day.

On February 20th, thanks to a test (MRI defecography) that I pushed my doctor to order for months and months, it was discovered that I have a high grade (Oxford III-IV) internal rectal prolapse (intussusception). Unfortunately, finding a surgeon to operate on me has been extremely difficult both due to the apparent lack of expertise in the procedure I need (robotic ventral mesh rectopexy) in Canada*, and that I am a trans woman who has had gender affirmation/reassignment surgery.

I've been rejected by several surgeons because they are either afraid to operate on my anatomy or are prohibited from doing so (for example, one U.S. surgeon's hospital wouldn't let her operate on me due to the hospital's ban on "gender affirming care" which apparently includes non-trans related surgeries on trans people).

After months of searching (and a letter from my GRS surgeon clearing me for the procedure), I have finally found an experienced robotic surgical team at HLA Moncloa University Hospital in Madrid to perform the surgery, but it will cost €40,000 or roughly $60,000 Canadian dollars. But my family is desperate to get me care after 14 months of unnecessary suffering where I considered taking my own life, and I am desperate to finally get some relief and hopefully get my life back.

The surgery is planned for June 13, with payment due June 10.

I'm not asking for the full $60,000 amount because that's just too much, and my family will help me. But I am hoping to raise half of it, though I probably won't be able to, but any bit that anybody can spare would help me so much.

It's been a nightmare, made worse by the way I've been treated and dismissed by doctors, and the transphobia and dehumanizing feeling of being reduced to one's genitals while being refused treatment. I just want it to end. If you can help me I would be so grateful.

Thank you so much,

Ami Angelwings <3

*the surgeon who did Canada's first robotic ventral mesh rectopexy in 2016 left for the US in 2025 and he told us via email when we reached out for help that since he left he doesn't believe anybody in Canada does the procedure, and we've had a very hard time trying to find anybody with that expertise, possibly due to underfunding of Canadian healthcare (and wait times would be extensive).
