Nutritional Aid for my Father's Cancer Battle

In late July 2024 my father faced a challenging diagnosis of oesophageal cancer, which although life-altering, also brought out his inner strength, at that time, the medical team estimated he had approximately six months to live without intervention, yet he chose to focus on the possibilities, by late September, the disease had advanced to his liver, with lesions present, but he refused to let it define him, Fast forward again, he proactively sought out multiple opinions and traveled all over the state, and underwent a wide range of diagnostic tests, which although exhausting, ultimately gave him a sense of hope, we were encouraged to think that he would be able to undergo surgery for his oesophagus, and achieve a substantial recovery, with some restrictions, he demonstrated remarkable courage, in deciding to embark on chemotherapy, combined with immunotherapy, for four cycles, followed by surgical intervention, and an additional four cycles postoperative, along with immunotherapy, after much thought, searching, and navigating the complex phases of shock, he made the informed decision to pursue treatment, opting for an aggressive chemotherapy protocol called FLOT.

When he went in for his first appointment a week ago, they told him that his liver has been taken over, what we were told were lesions a month prior, ended up being multiple aggressive tumors, a huge letdown and turning point in his journey, and that now to do chemotherapy would just be to prolong his life and that it was completely his choice. They would also be doing immunotherapy as well as the white blood cell shot. It has been one week today and he has already dropped weight, he has temperature sensitivity, too cold and a little bit of neuropathy in his hands, and can’t intake anything that’s cold, basically he’s really not moving too much from exhaustion and not able to be himself. it’s very hard to see my dad go down like that because he’s a very strong and stubborn individual, just like myself, and also it’s a tricky and hard time to think about how to explain this more to Varick and why his papa is sick, but with support, we'll rise above this. That’s been the main man in his life since he was a baby.

So this is what I’m asking for and I’m hoping that it’s successful somewhat is that I’m asking for help to be able to provide my father with essential nutrients basically by making it easier before his tumour gets larger, and while feeling horrible. there’s a chance I could block his airway, but most of all it’s been able to intake nutrient dense things And things that sound incredibly appealing to him and having juices like fresh juices and smoothies and anything he needs nutritionally to thrive, it’s a lot for me to ask to make one of these because I have a lot of pride and I’m very independent and in another situation I wouldn’t have to but financially it’s harder right now since I had to have a lot of time off to be able to have my surgery And a change of jobs, I remain optimistic.

I’m currently only back to work the last three weeks finally after my surgery and the last six months have been a very challenging experience, so that’s what I’m asking for is just to help me help my father to not have to worry about nutritional things and making sure he’s taking care of in that direction and not have to worry about any of it. He doesn’t know I’m doing this for him because just like me he does have a lot of pride so please that’s why I have him blocked away from this, and keeping it a secret. Not many have met my dad, but the ones who have know he’s a good hearted, but royal pain in the butt, and wants to fight through all this.
