Hi there, my name is Tiffany, and I am the owner of Nutmeg... Actually, I think it's the other way around haha.
- Just before the New Year, Nutmeg had fallen ill with an acute kidney injury (AKI) of unknown origin. We are still currently fighting this disease and may never know what caused it. Consequently, Nutmeg may face lifelong complications from this AKI, but we are praying she will be okay with frequent health screenings and visits.
- On New Year's Eve, we took Nutmeg home after being hospitalized in the kitty ICU. Just three nights cost us over $3,500.
- The weeks to follow included daily stays at our routine vet for intensive fluid therapy. At home, we administered various medications and daily subcutaneous fluids. These past few weeks have been exhausting, but having my sweet girl healthy and safe is my priority.
- Ultimately, in just 3 weeks, we have acquired a little over $6,000 in medical debt for my baby. This fundraiser solely funds me so that Nutmeg can continue receiving the care that she needs. I know that money is tight for everyone so I do not want to ask for a lot. Even a donation of five dollars could help cover part of her medication costs. I am setting a goal of 300 dollars so that I can make my minimum payment to CareCredit and cover a few medications.
About Nutmeg:
- My husband and I adopted Nutmeg in 2021 when she was 6 years old. We had no intention of adopting a kitty, but I knew when I saw her she was the one!
- We discovered she had been given back to our local shelter due to her previous owner who was unable to manage her weight effectively... it was a lot of work. :(
- She remained in the shelter for around two years with no one that expressed interest in adopting her. :(
- She was a little over 15 pounds when we got her. Over a few years, we were able to get her down to 12 pounds! Slow weight loss for cats is the BEST!
- She is a sweet "fluffy" girl who LOVES food. She doesn't run for much, but she runs for food! (That is, until she got sick. We are still trying to get her appetite back!)
- Just five months before her AKI, Nutmeg had a routine dental examination and cleaning. Her bloodwork was perfect with no signs of kidney disease.
- She is home now and still recovering. We are still fighting this disease daily. All I want is for her to be safe, happy, and healthy again!
