Veterinary students have always felt like family to me. I’ve interacted with them for nearly 30 years, and I’ve seen how hard they work, how deeply they care, and how heavy the pressures on them can be.
This fundraiser is to create rent-free housing for veterinary students in financial need — not just a handout for a night or two, but a true safe haven. A home where students can rest, study, and feel human again, without the crushing worry of rent hanging over their heads.
It will also be a welcoming place for students and veterinary professionals to come and be uplifted due to the need of a mental health boost on a regular basis.

Many people don’t realize how serious the mental health challenges are in veterinary medicine — it’s a global problem and the numbers are sobering.
According to the Merck wellbeing study:
Rates of suicide, burnout, compassion fatigue, depression, and anxiety are significantly higher among veterinarians and veterinary students than in the general population.
Students and veterinarians alike face compassion fatigue, burnout, and sometimes feel like they’ve lost the very compassion that drew them here in the first place. I’ve watched bright, kind students walk through halls feeling like they’re “not enough,” and it breaks my heart.
Molly’s House will be a home, not just a roof. A home to visit or stay in. Every corner will have a purpose for healing and connection:
• The Kitchen → Where Breakfast Bonanzas bring people together, the smell of pancakes and coffee ☕ filling the air, offering not just food but fellowship.
• The Porch/Backyard → Where we’ll gather for S’mores under the stars, bonfire crackling, laughter echoing — warmth for both body and soul.
• The Living Room → Hosting Ice Cream Social Spectaculars, complete with toppings galore, so even the toughest days end with a sweet smile.
• The Bedrooms → Furnished, safe, and restful spaces where students can breathe, study, and finally feel relief from the heavy weight of rent.
❤️ It’s not just housing. It’s a place where veterinary students can reclaim joy, friendship, and strength. ❤️
All of these events, and the amenities needed to create them, require funding. That’s where you come in.
Your donation doesn’t just help repair a porch or furnish a bedroom. It creates a safe space for smiles and sighs of relief — a gathering place where students leave feeling seen, believed in, and more than anything else, reminded that they are enough.
If you feel led to help:
❤️ Donations of any size make a difference
❤️ Shares and prayers are just as powerful
❤️ Early donations — especially in the first 24 hours — help boost GoFundMe’s algorithm and expand our reach
Thank you for believing in the power of kindness and for helping build a home that heals.
➡️ And finally, while this begins here in my local community, it is also the start of a new initiative. If events like these prove to make a difference in student and professional well-being, there is the potential to grow this vision nationwide — even globally — so that veterinary professionals everywhere can have something uplifting to look forward to.
