Hello.

Let us tell you about a place that simply refuses to quit!

Green Kamino is a small nursery in Casa Grande, Arizona, started by two friends who learned—rather sharply—that the usual paths to work and stability are not built for everyone.

When bodies don’t cooperate, you find other ways forward. Ours led to soil under the fingernails, seeds in the ground, and the stubborn idea that growing living things can also grow independence.

Our goal is modest: to earn a living.

Our dream is not.

We want to scatter native wildflowers back across the desert until spring remembers what it’s meant to do. We want to raise a food forest—not just for ourselves, but for the community around us—a place that feeds people, pollinators, and hope in equal measure. We believe in moral, ethical, and truly sustainable organic farming, not as a slogan, but as a practice. We offset our own carbon.

For now, our plants make their way to local markets in and around Casa Grande. The nursery itself is still becoming—built slowly, often by hand. Progress is held back by limited funds and limited bodies, but the plants remain patient. Propagation continues. Seeds are planted. Roots take hold.

With your help, we can move faster—build what’s missing, strengthen what’s growing, and give this small, living idea the chance to become something lasting.

Thank you for reading.

Thank you for believing in small beginnings.

They are, after all, where the best stories usually start.

One of Green Kamino’s cofounders lives with cerebral palsy and autism. Like anyone else, he wants steady work, purpose, and the dignity of contributing something real to his community. What he has met instead are closed doors and well-meaning systems that promised support, then let him down or simply stepped away.

So he adapted.

In the nursery, effort matters more than speed. Patience counts. Showing up counts. Green Kamino exists not because the path was easy or obvious, but because it was necessary — a place where someone who moves differently can still build something that matters.

And that, perhaps, is the most important thing growing here.

As the old saying goes:

A society grows great when people plant trees whose shade they may never sit in.

And that is exactly what we’re trying to do.
