Nursing Student Missing Federal Aid

Due to the firings at the Department of Education, I cannot access my awarded Federal Aid funds that I depend on for school.

My nursing school (who will remain anonymous while this is being sorted out) did nothing to lose their Federal Financial Aid Status. When the hospital affiliated with the school changed ownership, the staff at the Department of Education whose job it was to process the Title IV transfer were fired by DOGE. Consequently, nursing students have no access to our awarded Pell grants and Federal loans. Our nursing school is one of the top in the nation for NCLEX pass rates. They have had to reduce staff and are no longer accepting new students because of this in a time of *critical nursing shortage*.

This is not legal. But the senators' and governor's offices I've contacted continue to be too busy with the overwhelming inefficiencies to address this issue while I have no option to pay for school because I'm on disability with major income limits (I don't even have the option of a bank loan).

I'm a nursing student with only ***ONE YEAR LEFT TO GO***. This is my way to make a better life for myself and gain financial independence.

For anyone doubting my abilities with quadriparesis and EDS, I can do all of the functions of nursing while delegating heavy lifting tasks to assistive personnel. I am currently on the Dean's list at my school. Without becoming an RN, none of that even matters.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to buy some time. While waiting for the Department of Education to be reinstated or its crucial jobs to be functioning again, our nursing school has created a payment plan for us of $2,187 a month.

So for me to continue with school I will need:

$2,187 by August 29th

$4,374 by September 29th

$6,561 by October 29th

...etc

I'm advocating for myself as a disabled student, and for all other low income students who are affected by this.
