Nursing School Philippines Trip
Donation protected
Hi! I'm Kat and I'm a 4th-year nursing student at the College of Saint Scholastica. I was recently given the amazing opportunity to travel to the Philippines with some students and faculty from my program. While there, we'll be working as student nurses at free community clinics, orphanages, and in a local hospital (I'm super excited for labor and delivery!), and learning about Philippino culture and history.
This is an incredible opportunity to learn from and participate in a healthcare system in a culture different from the one I grew up in. It's an awesome chance to immerse in another culture while being a helpful presence, which is something I strive to do as much as possible. It would also help me conceptualize ways I would be able to continue my career outside the United States. I plan to join Nurses without borders (or a similar organization) soon after I graduate. I've spent a lot of time contemplating ways that I can listen to and serve a community as a nurse while also being a respectful and grateful visitor. Certain items on the itinerary like the free clinics and Damas (orphanages) would be a great opportunity to grow more in these ways!
All the funds from this page will go towards paying the 4,000 to the school for the trip. Any extra will go towards buying gifts and donations to bring to the community.
