Hi, my name is Jurita and I am a 3rd and final year Adult Nursing student at Birmingham City University.

This summer I will be travelling to Tanzania (Zanzibar) to volunteer with Knowledge for Change (1146911) who aims to improve the standard of healthcare and education provision for the poorest members of society in low- and middle-income countries.

For 4 weeks I will be working in the local Mnazi Mmoja Hospital which provides comprehensive services, including maternity, paediatrics, medicine, surgery, rehabilitation, mental health and infectious diseases, to the whole population of Zanzibar and also the neighbouring Pemba Island.

And I need your help.

There is the urgent need for several medical devices and pieces of equipment in the hospital, which unfortunately they can't afford. We are not talking about expensive medical machinery, but basic items like gloves, nasal cannulas, thermometers, tourniquets and many more which seems like basic necessities here in the UK, but are lifesaving back in Tanzania.

I will be grateful for any donations that you are able to provide.
