My name is Geraldine Falacy, and I’m a nurse in Washington state. In my free time, I work to reduce medical waste by collecting and redistributing unused, sterile medical supplies to communities in need.

Recently, I was entrusted with an extraordinary donation: an entire storage unit filled with sterile, unused surgical supplies— specifically disposable gowns and surgical needles. These are critical items used in nearly every surgery, and they’re ready to save lives.

Given the ongoing medical crisis in Ukraine, I’m working to ship these supplies where they are urgently needed. This is the largest donation I’ve received in 15 years of doing this work, and it’s an incredible opportunity to make a real impact. However, shipping over 10,000 pounds of medical supplies overseas comes at a significant cost—several thousand dollars.
