Nurse's Costa Rica Medical Volunteer Trip

It’s Official — I’m Going to Costa Rica!
This fall, I’ll be spending four weeks in Costa Rica (9/29-10/25), immersing myself in the Spanish medical culture—an experience I’ve dreamed about for years.
The first two weeks will be spent in beautiful Manuel Antonio, where I’ll live with a host family and take part in daily medical Spanish lessons, both in group settings and one-on-one. Then, I’ll head to San José for two weeks of volunteer work at a local medical clinic. There, I’ll support doctors and nurses by assisting with administrative tasks, taking vital signs, and speaking with patients about their medications—all while sharpening my language skills in a real-world clinical setting.
Volunteering as a nurse has always been a goal of mine, and I’m incredibly grateful to step into this role finally. Even more exciting is the opportunity to bring back what I learn to the emergency department where I currently work, enhancing care for our Spanish-speaking patients.
Over the past two years, I’ve hit some major milestones: becoming trauma certified, precepting new grad nurses in the ER, teaching as a clinical instructor, and enrolling in a Master’s program that begins this May.
I’m so thankful for every opportunity that’s helped me grow into the nurse I am today—and this journey to Costa Rica feels like the perfect next step. Thank you for being a part of it!
All funds raised will cover program-related expenses, including accommodation with a host family, daily meals provided by the host family, and the medical volunteer program fee.
Thank you so much for your interest in supporting my volunteer trip. Your generosity and encouragement mean the world to me, and I’m truly grateful for every contribution that helps make this journey possible.
Much love & gratitude,
