On May 11th/12th Victoria, who is a nurse at John Hunter Hospital, was told mid night-shift that her car had been burnt out in the staff carpark.
In the fire, Victoria lost not just a car but also her wedding and engagement rings as well as other belongings. It's the sentimental value of the car and the personal keepsakes that make this even harder to bear. She and her husband have shown great courage and strength throughout this but need our support to take the next necessary steps.
Initial response from both Police and Fire department is that the damage is too extensive to be able to investigate or to determine the cause of the fire.
If you would like to help and support Victoria and her husband they would be very grateful for any donations that could go towards a car as Victoria works as a nurse/essential worker at the John Hunter Hospital and lives too far away for public transport to be accessed effectively.
Not only has this raised concern regarding Victoria's safety, it has also highlighted a flaw with the CCTV and security at the John Hunter Hospital carpark. Both visitors and staff carpark need better security. We will be asking JHH what they can do about this, to prevent anyone else from suffering the same fate.
