On the evening of March 7, Nurse La’Keisha Burks' (Montgomery, AL), life would be changed forever. Nurse Burks was informed that her 21 year old daughter, Jonica Young, had been struck by a stray bullet while riding in the car. Jonica is currently in the ICU on life support after undergoing major surgery to remove the bullet. Jonica suffered damage to her brain and it is unsure, at this time, what the prognosis will be. I have spoken with Nurse Burks and she is devastated but remaining strong for her daughter and loved ones.
As we all know, such tragedies are never expected and almost never planned for. Nurse Burks is a young, single mother with three children and she is the sole provider of her household. We are asking for your donation of any amount to help Nurse Burks with medical expenses, childcare, and the long road to recovery that is ahead of her and Jonica.
Please keep Jonica, Nurse Burks and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
