Lance "Strong Eagle" Crawford has dedicated his life to helping others and now needs your help.
Due to a herniated disc pressing into his spinal cord, Lance had to have a three vertebrae fusion 14 years ago. The surgery did not resolve the problem but created more. Pressure from the first fusion caused another disc to herniate into the spinal cord requiring a second fusion 8 years ago. Intractable pain, pressure and numbness have continued to escalate. However, Lance continues to work full time as an RN for the VA Hospital and help others in recovery. Debilitating pain and symptoms caused Lance to seek the opinion of two surgeons in the last 3 months. Lance learned his last cervical fusion did not take and now he has another cervical disc causing compression on his spinal cord. The surgeons confirmed his neck is extremely unstable. Lance must have surgery as soon as possible to stabalize his neck before crippling permanent damage. The test, MRI's, and CT's also revealed the lumbar spine is unstable with immense pressure in several areas around the spinal cord. Surgery on his lumbar is invetable once his neck is stabalized.
The past several years have been extremely hard for Lance as the pain is excruciating causing sleepless nights, with no relief. The surgeon who will perform the surgeries, told Lance on his first visit that "he was suprised to see him walking." However, Lance cares deeply about his work. When Lance was called to serve his country, the Vietnam war ended. Lance always said "I did not have my brothers back then but I do now" as he cares for them at the VA.
Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, a long history of medical costs, loss of paid leave to take care of his ailing parents, and their passing last year has left us without the necessary funds required for these surgeries. The surgereon wants to do back to back surgeries with a 3 to 4 weeks break in between.
Without Lance's paychecks we will be unable to meet our financial obligations.
Those of you who know him and have been in his presence, are aware of his LOVE for LIFE, his joy of helping others to learn to grow, and his vow to assist others with healing. Lance has helped many find their paths, experience true joy and learn to love life again through healing ceremonies he has performed throughout the USA and abroad.
