Nurse being evicted due to COVID-19
Donation protected
I am a Nurse who had just started a new job when I got very sick with COVID-19 and missed 3 weeks of work. There were times I was afraid I was not going to survive it. But I recovered and I went back to work. I had already fallen behind in rent. I started making payments to catch up when I got sick again. When I got COVID it wiped out my immunity leaving me open to other illnesses as well. I developed a MRSA infection that required surgery. While I was out sick recovering from that surgery I was fired from my job through email for absenteeism during my 90 day probationary period. I did not qualify for unemployment since I was out due to illness and unable to work. I have not had any income for the last 6 weeks. I have a new nursing job that I start on July 27th so I should be able pay August rent, (although it will be late) but I have only been given until the 31st to pay the past due balance of $2,650 or I will be evicted. Over $500. is actually late fees, just for the month of July, that they refuse to waive. They have already served me with a 3 day pay or vacate notice. I also have a small dog and we will certainly be homeless if I have to move out in a little over a week. This is all so embarrassing, especially for someone who is used to helping others and not asking for help myself. Please help me be able to stay in my apt? I know most of us are struggling during the pandemic but any amount, no matter how small will help!!! I promise to pay it forward! Thank you!
