Support for Heather & Family

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Jenna and I’m asking for support for my dear friend(s) Heather Prescott and her family. The Prescott’s could really use help with gas money and household needs. Heather has been dealing with some debilitating health issues that have been really hard on the whole family.

Here is Heather’s story (straight from her):

If you know, you know…
Think of this as an update and a reintroduction to me and mine…

To start with, we are struggling but managing and soaking up all the moments…

Our girls are thriving and Richard and I are the same as always we also have a new addition, our Daisy dog

So here it goes…
I’ve delayed putting this out there for a myriad of reasons. But mostly I have hoped that the nightmare would be over by now. Something I would reference in hindsight during a conversation. However, despite my hopes and best efforts, I am continuing to decline.
So here goes folks…

Sept 2022 this vaccinated and boosted veteran RN, elite athlete finally contracts covid. Along with the rest of the household. Richard and I do our best to rest and recover but with 3 kiddos sick as well…. You know how that went. I think I’m better after a few weeks, but am I? By the middle of October I feel like I’m having a heart attack or stroke and going to pass out just from walking from my couch to the bathroom. I’m hospitalized for 3 weeks essentially for POTS complications after Covid. I come home on Halloween and am thankful to see another day, at home with my friends and family. I struggle with home health PT and OT, but it seems like I’m turning the corner. Until March 2023 and the house comes down with the flu. I’m down again but have more experience and knowledge base with POTS, so I’m not scared of the chest pain and shortness of breath. I’ve been assured, I’m in no danger. I stay home but continue with my parade of outpatient appointments and such. Though I’m now wheelchair bound I can still at this point, do personal hygiene and make a snack myself, but then have to rest before doing another activity. Mind you, summer 2022 I was rock climbing folks! Still working with home health at this point because I plan on getting out of this wheelchair and having my strength is just good in general. Thankfully, I can exercise lying down so I’m still very strong when my muscles are given the opportunity. I have a functional endurance issue. Considering I was being a “good” patient and still getting worse, we decided to investigate my blood sugars. I get a continuous glucose monitor and lo and behold! I’m have extremely large variances in my readings and very low readings, that could explain my symptoms. Well, it’s not my first day guys, I can manage this… but I couldn’t keep my sugars up and I was increasingly symptomatic, so my PCP sent me to the ER. I spent almost a week at that hospital to be discharged to follow up outpatient with Mayo. Because I’m too complicated for this local hospital. During this stay, it’s identified that I have another arrhythmia. A new one, since contracting covid and feeling miserable for 10 months… I have seen a cardiologist for over a decade and this is a new rhythm. The chest pain and other symptoms continue and we had been instructed to go to Mayo ER if getting worse. After being home for 2 days, I can’t live life without symptoms now. If I’m bedbound, I feel better… still don’t have answers but we do have a ton of outpatient specialists and procedures to get through.

For starters, I felt compelled to do this for many reasons. One of which is I hope people talk to one another because I need help. I know some of you are healthcare professionals and I’m asking you… what do you know? I recognize there’s a ton more info to give, but I’m an open book. DM me. If you want to call upon someone you know, go for it, please. It’s getting harder and harder, but I am resilient. If you know me, I’m not a quitter and I’m not a wimp. Please send me positive thoughts and vibes and prayers, if that’s your thing.

*adding that I have been working with many different specialists outpatient style including Shands, Advent, and most recently from my ER visit; waiting on a Mayo referral. Some of my specialists practice privately as well. It’s been fun y’all, but I’m tired and getting worse so it seems I’m running out of time. I will not and am not going quietly into the night… thanks for listening and thanks for all the love
