Nunzie’s Top Surgery Fund

Hi everyone, I’m Nunzie, a 29 year old nonbinary trans person. I came out  in 2015 and started HRT in 2019. 

I am raising money to fund my top surgery procedure, which will be performed by Dr. Cheng Hean Lo at Masada Hospital in late 2021. 

I will be having a double mastectomy without nipple grafts. This means that each breast will be completely removed from above and below the breast tissue, and then joined along the pec muscles. The incisions will extend from my pec muscles to my armpits and possibly through to my back, due to extra fat. My nipples will not be re-attatched to my chest area, as I’d prefer to have them tattooed on at a later stage. 

This procedure will be performed under general anaesthetic, and I will stay overnight at the hospital. 

The current fees for this procedure have been quoted to me as $5-7000 out of pocket. There are other costs such as the consult appointments and fees for post-op care, but at the moment I am raising funds to simply cover the majority of the surgery. 

As I am on the disability pension I don’t really have other income to cover the surgery costs. I am privileged to have private health insurance which has reduced my out of pocket from over $14,000 to $5-7000, which I am extremely grateful for. But I cannot cover the rest myself.

The level of physical discomfort and dysphoria I feel in my body is extreme, and is becoming increasingly distressing as I get older. This surgery needs to happen for me this year. I’ve waited for this opportunity since I was a preteen.
