Hi! I’m Alena, and I’m producing a proof-of-concept for Nuns With Guns: Passion of the Heist—a bold, joyful comedy feature co-written by the brilliant Yazmin Monet Watkins. Alongside my co-producer, Courtney, we’re raising funds to bring this vision to life!

THE STORY

Nuns With Guns: Passion of the Heist is a wild, joyful, and rebellious Black comedy about four South LA nuns who turn to a life of crime to save their orphanage from gentrification.

Written by LA native Yazmin Monet Watkins—a poet, comedian, actress, and screenwriter who’s worked with Netflix, Comedy Central, Issa Rae, and more—this script brings together sharp satire, absurdism, and joy. Instead of centering Black trauma, this story reclaims resistance through humor, community, and sisterhood.

Think Sister Act meets Set It Off, with the energy of Sorry to Bother You and One of Them Days. Nuns With Guns: Passion of the Heist is a wild, joyful, and rebellious Black comedy where sisterhood, satire, and survival collide.
