NuEyes for Mom!
Donation protected
As many of you already know, my mom has been legally blind since before I was born. However, over the last 18 months her eyes have gotten drastically worse.
I am starting this GoFundMe for my amazing mother, Sharon Blair. She lives with my husband, Jason and myself and our 2 year old son, Cameron. She even watches our son during the day while we go to work.
We have been to several retina and eye specialists and have tried several different treatments to try and return her eyesight to what it was. I even was giving her injections in her thigh 3 times a week with a drug (h.p. acthar) that cost $40,000 PER VIAL, thank God for insurance! Unfortunately, the drug didn't improve her eyesight at all, but it did stop her from going completely blind. We have been coming to terms with our new reality- that my mom wouldn't see again. Basically everything she sees is like looking through frosted glass, and some days she can hardly see anything at all. We have been in contact with the State so she can learn to walk with a cane, and doing anything else possible to help ease her transition. But this past weekend, my sweet mother-in- law, Pam, met a gentleman who is a parent advocate for the blind. And he showed us NUEYES- which are augmented reality glasses! When wearing the glasses, my Mom saw me smile for the first time in 18 months! She saw her Grandsons face for the first time since he was an infant. She could SEE! It was a VERY emotional day that gave us all hope! We would love to be able to get her a pair of these miracle glasses, but they have a pretty steep price tag. We would appreciate any help that you could give! Unfortunately, insurance hasn't caught up to the new technology yet, as this product has only been on the market for 11 months. I have posted some video and pictures, as well as a link to the website so you can learn all about this life changing technology!! Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have! Thank you for your help, it means the world to us!
