On May 18th Sheldon was playing with his dog Achilles, Achilles got over excited and accidently bit his hand. Like a typical man he ignored it. 4 days later it had become badly infected. Finally after 5 days he went to emergency in Shellbrook. At this point the infection had become so bad it had greatly reduced his kidney funtion, while in Shellbrook, he was diagnosed with diabetes and is now dependent on insulin. After 13 days Sheldon was discharged from Shellbrook and returned home to Big River, unfortunately the infection in his hand was still out of. After 3 days at home, Sheldon was able to get in to see Dr. Weasels at the Big River Clinic. Dr. Weasels took one look at his hand, then asked him if he could go to Prince Albert immediately. Sheldon went to Victoria Union hospital where he received 2 surgeries in 2 days. His hand is now beginning heal. Unfortunately after weeks of his hand be immobile once it has healed he will have to undertake a lengthy rehab to regain full use of his hand. Sheldon is now facing several hundred dollars month in prescription drug costs in addition to all the other expenses we all face in life. At this time I am not sure when Sheldon will be discharged from the hospital and be returning to Big River to continue his recovery.
