Hello.
My name is Pierre Barrera. Many of you I’m sending this to know of my situation but I’m going to start at the beginning so everyone knows.
My brother Christiaan has done his part for our society. Chris served in US Navy as a Corpsman with the Marines. He was deployed during The Gulf War. When he returned he became a police officer and investigator for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. After retiring Chris decided to work with archeologists in finding sacred sites and cultural properties for preservation.
A year and a half ago Chris became ill and lost use of his liver. A year ago I left my work in the New Mexico film industry to come and care for him. This has been a very hard year of ups and downs. Right now we are in a hard place. Chris is on the list for a transplant, a procedure that from start to finish may take up to 6 to 8 months.
Last week my vehicle took its last trip and I was forced to get a more reliable vehicle.
I am here on gofundme to ask for help in getting this done for him. When we get the call we will have to relocate to Portland Oregon. There is a wait until he is first on the list, which may be up to 3 months. When the surgery happens it will be another 3 months for him to heal, during which I will not be able to work at all I will have to be a 24/7 care taker.
All funds collected will go to helping us pay bills and help pay off our vehicle for 6 months. Lodging and medical expenses are paid for while in Portland but we will have to maintain his house here in Rapid City South Dakota and pay for meals, gas and our bills during the time I cannot work. Anything you can donate will help.
