Hi Friends & Family.

Meet Leo — the sweetest 5-year-old kitty, raised by Nichole from birth. From his days as a tiny water bear to now, Leo has been so much more than a pet. He’s family. He was Nichole’s constant through med school in Maine, a travel buddy to Boston, and now a proud Asheville local. He’s adopted our dog Indica as his sister, mentored our other cat Mowgli as a brother, and showered all of us with love, loyalty, and the world’s best cuddles.

On September 12th, 2025, Leo was hit by a car and then attacked by another animal while wounded. His pelvis was broken and dislocated, his back legs left with puncture wounds, and his body scraped raw. After more than an hour of calling for him, Leo dragged himself home — 200+ feet uphill over gravel and concrete, using only his front paws. Exhausted, nails worn down to the quick, he collapsed on our porch and let out a heart-wrenching meow for help.

But through it all, Leo never gave up. He was fully himself — alert, present, still Leo — just hurt. In that moment, we knew euthanasia was not an option for this lil guy. After the impossible fight he endured to come home, how could we not fight for him in return?

After spending three nights in the hospital, it was clear Leo would need specialized orthopedic surgery to repair his pelvis and prevent long term complications. Thanks to the amazing team at our local veterinary hospital, Leo's surgery went well and his prognosis for a full recovery is strong.

As anyone who has ever had a beloved pet in need of emergency care, the vet bills are piling up. If you’re able to support Leo’s recovery, we would be endlessly grateful. Every contribution helps us give him the second chance he fought so hard for. We’ll share updates as he heals and continues to teach us and his siblings, Indi and Mowgli, what it means to keep fighting, no matter the odds.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With love,

Leo, Nichole, Jackson, Indica & Mowgli
