Our dear friend Tricia Phelps, is one of the most outgoing, friendly people you will ever meet. Always willing to help anyone in need with a big smile. She is also a women of unwavering faith, which has helped her keep her spirits high through this never ending nightmare.
On 10/30 Tricia went from a healthy, happy woman to an amputee (both feet and both hands) in 6.5 horrific weeks. She became septic from an unknown kidney stone blockage. The bacteria causing the sepsis was a resistant strain of E. coli. Tricia was given a 10% chance of survival. The infection led to her being placed on a ventilator and being medically induced into a coma for a week. Then shortly after, both feet were amputated from mid-calf down. She is no longer septic and is doing very well emotionally. Today (12/16/19) both of her hands are being amputated. After this Tricia will be able to go to a rehab facility and will have 2 more procedures in early January to deal with the kidney stone and the gallbladder. We are extremely thankful that she has survived and has kept her positive attitude throughout this nightmare.
There is still a long road ahead. We are asking for your continued prayers, support, and a donation to help with the enormous expenditures they will be facing. They will need a handicap vehicle and prostheses to help her complete everyday tasks. In addition to the medical bills, their home will need to be modified to make it handicap accessible. We sincerely appreciate anything you can do to help.
