Dear friends and family,

Some of you may have seen a recent post about our beloved Larry after he experienced a serious complication following an outpatient heart procedure that landed him in the ICU. We are so thankful that Larry is on the road to recovery following emergency surgery. Still, his journey is far from over, and we wanted to share a bit more about his experience and ask for any available support from friends and family as he goes through this difficult time.

Larry had hand surgery scheduled many weeks ago, which was supposed to clean up an old injury. During pre-op work, they found out he had a heart arrhythmia, but they could continue the surgery. A cardiologist later saw Larry for the arrhythmia but discovered that he had a congenital heart defect that needed to be repaired while they converted his heart rhythm. The outpatient cath lab procedure to repair the defect and correct the arrhythmia followed only a few short weeks after the hand surgery. Still, all outlooks looked positive when he was sent home that day.

Unfortunately, the following day, Larry experienced an alarming complication which led to a vessel in his leg bursting and bleeding. Larry went straight into emergency surgery with the vascular team, and they were able to control the bleeding; however, a significant amount of damage was already done, and they could not fully close the wound. Larry was sent to the ICU following surgery and is still hospitalized due to ongoing complications. He is currently receiving treatments and is doing his best to start healing. Even once he is out of the woods from the surgery, he is facing a months-long recovery with intense PT and OT to regain function. As you can imagine, he was still recovering from hand surgery and the heart procedure, so this unexpected setback has made Larry's road to recovery very challenging.

Since this ordeal started with a hand surgery that was only supposed to keep Larry out of work for a few weeks and is now turning into a months-long recovery process, the situation with his leave from work will soon reach a crossroads. That situation, coupled with ever-growing medical expenses, is why we humbly request our community's support. With Larry's leave and PTO exhausted, it will be a very uncertain and scary time for both Larry and Amira. We want to ensure Larry is able to focus on getting back on his feet after his incredible ordeal and not stressing about bills. Any financial support will help ease these worries.

Importantly, we know times are tough for everyone right now, so we greatly appreciate any financial donation you can offer, but we completely understand if you cannot. Any love and good energy directed toward a swift recovery for Larry is very welcome, and we are extremely grateful.
