Christian Michael Sweeney attended the Lake Havasu High School (LHHS) from 2009 until 2013.  While Christian attended LHHS one of his many academic accomplishments was winning first place in Web Design at the Skills USA National Competition in 2013. Before graduating high school, Christian received a $70,000.00 scholarship to attend Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Christian began his studies in Nuclear Engineering in 2013 at Purdue.  While attending Purdue Christian made the Dean's list and was awarded a General Scholarship, an Alumni General Scholarship and the Prestigious High Merit Scholarship (a great honor and difficult to achieve).  During his studies Christian was working for Purdue's IT department.  Christian was accepted into an internship with Dominion Energy's Nuclear Engineering program where he has been working for the past year.

  In July of 2015 Christian was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Nasopharyngeal.  Christian has to put his junior year of college and internship on hold to receive treatment at Loma Linda Medical Center in Loma Linda, California.  The cancer has progressed to stage four at this time.  Christian has to start chemotherapy and radiation immediately in an attempt to combat the cancer. While Christian is receiving treatment, he will be residing at his grandmother’s home in California.

Christian has been raised in Lake Havasu City by his mother Tina Sweeney, and his father Kevin Sweeney, who resides in California.  While raising her four successful children: Brian, Christian, Hannah and Heather- Tina has worked two jobs (sometimes even three), attends college classes, as well as recently obtained her real estate license, so she could provide them with a comfortable life.  Tina is a Court Clerk at the Lake Havasu Consolidated Court and works the weekends as a server for Shugrues Restaurant.  Tina does have medical insurance for Christian; however, the out of pocket deductibles and travel expenses will prove to be an overwhelming burden in the months ahead.
