Thank you for coming here to honour Matcha’s memory. We are setting up this page to help our friends Yasmine and Yanick keep their baby’s memory alive, and we hope she will continue to touch the hearts of anyone who comes here.
After arriving at the emergency hospital, the vets confirmed she was afflicted with IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), which means her immune system started attacking her red blood cells until she had none left. She was a completely healthy 4-year-old dog, and suddenly her immune system started attacking itself. There are no genetic predispositions for IMHA … it just cruelly happened without a cause. Matcha received critical support from the hospital for 4 days, and despite blood transfusions, 24-hour care, multiple tests, feeding tubes and medication to halt the immune system … she didn’t make it.
As most pet owners know, veterinary care can become incredibly expensive, and in Matcha’s case, it was over $10,000. They spared no expense to give her the best chance at survival … if you can assist them in recovering some of the financial burden of the veterinary care she received, that is truly appreciated. We hope to raise awareness for IMHA, as her case was incredibly aggressive.
Matcha was truly the sweetest little girl that we unfortunately had to say goodbye to way too soon. Nothing but joy radiated from that soul and a little bit (a lot) of sassiness as she was truly a Queen and made sure everyone around her knew. A brave little girl who immediately made herself at home when Yasmine and Yanick brought her to their place as a puppy. Her older brother Miso wasn’t quite so sure at first, but Matcha was nothing if not persistent. She didn’t waver in her determination to make sure Miso warmed up to her, and soon after, the two were absolutely inseparable. Matcha helped Miso gain confidence in a scary world, and she did the same for every friend she made.
Matcha fought so hard until she couldn’t lift her head, but she still wagged her tail and gave kisses to Yasmine and Yanick despite struggling to breathe. Matcha was peacefully lulled to sleep on her parents' laps until she crossed over the rainbow bridge, in the arms of her favourite people and with her brother Miso at her side.
We hope that you take a moment to look at her beautiful face, and we hope she makes you smile like she made us smile for all these years.
Thank you for your time and generous sentiments, and hug your pet for Matcha <3
