Help Frank Get His Life Back

Hello, my name is Maribel Arroyo, and I am the wife of Francisco Arroyo the person that this GoFund Me account is for. On May 20th, 2020 my husband got a headache that change our lives forever. The headache was so intense that he lost his vision and ended up in the emergency room. The blood pressure was so high that when they assess him in the ER we found out he was having heart issues with 2 blocked arteries, end-stage Kidney Failure, Gastroparesis, diabetes which he has had for 20 years. To make it short his body was shutting down. They did a stress test in which he suffers a heart attack, they found two-block arteries but the doctors couldn’t fix it until they put him on dialysis. It was a long process, they have to put him on dialysis first to be able to fix the heart, but it wasn’t that easy, if they do a heart catheterization the dye for it would do more damage to the kidneys but they needed to assess the kidneys to see what the treatment would be. So after back and for from the doctors on who would do what, he ended up on Peritoneal Dialysis 7 days a week at bedtime for eight and a half hours.

Frank has always been an active person. He played baseball in his younger years and then softball coaching his own team. He loves coaching but for the last season he couldn’t coach anymore, it was a very tough decision for him to make. Frank loves his team embracing the players, not as friends but as part of our family. Frank is an excellent husband, father, grandfather of our 3 beautiful grandkids, and one on the way soon. He is a great brother but most importantly, he is a wonderful son to his parents. This is very hard on Frank because he was always an energetic person and feels like his world is closing in on him. It is very hard for all of us. Some days are better than others. I see him struggle every day with his issues, when he wakes up 2 or 3 times at night and in the morning, to throw up is an everyday thing. It kills me to see him like that, sometimes I cry myself to sleep because I see the pain in his face. He looks at me like I’m ok but I know he is not. I don’t know what I would do without him.

We are now waiting to see if he will be put on the kidney transplant waiting list. He did all the testing and he is a good candidate. Once he is on the list, we have friends and family that would like to be tested to see if we find a match. We are very lucky to have people like that in our life. If we have a match, the process would be much quicker.

Helping him reach this goal is something that would ease the stress and worries. Frank is the type of person that does not like to ask for help, but as his wife, it is important to make sure this goal happens for my wonderful husband. Words cannot express how grateful I am to whoever donates to this GoFundMe Account. The money would go to hospital deductibles that are due at the time they call him to have his surgery, lodging in the case we have to rent a hotel, gas for the hospital, labs, and check-ups. But, most importantly the Anti-Rejections medications that he needs for the rest of his life are very expensive. Without having money for those medications he risks not being put on the list. Doctors need to know that if he receives the surgery that he has the means to get his meds if insurance doesn’t cover them.

Hola, mi nombre es Maribel Arroyo, y soy la esposa de Francisco Arroyo la persona a la que va dirigida

esta cuenta de GoFund Me. El 20 de mayo de 2020 mi marido tuvo un dolor de cabeza que cambió nuestras

vidas para siempre. El dolor de cabeza fue tan intenso que perdió la visión y acabó en urgencias. La presión

arterial era tan alta que cuando lo evaluaron en la sala de emergencias descubrimos que tenía problemas

cardíacos con 2 arterias bloqueadas, insuficiencia renal en etapa terminal, gastroparesia, diabetes que ha

tenido durante 20 años. Para abreviar, su cuerpo se estaba apagando. Le hicieron una prueba de esfuerzo en

la que sufrió un infarto, le encontraron dos arterias bloqueadas pero los médicos no pudieron arreglarlo

hasta que lo pusieron en diálisis. Fue un proceso largo, primero tenían que ponerlo en diálisis para poder

arreglar el corazón, pero no era tan fácil, si hacían un cateterismo cardíaco el tinte para ello haría más daño

a los riñones pero necesitaban evaluar los riñones para ver cuál sería el tratamiento. Así que después de las

idas y venidas de los médicos sobre quién haría qué, terminó en diálisis peritoneal 7 días a la semana a la

hora de acostarse durante ocho horas y media.

Frank siempre ha sido una persona activa. Jugó al béisbol en sus años de juventud y luego al sóftbol

entrenando a su propio equipo. Le encanta entrenar, pero en la última temporada no pudo hacerlo más, fue

una decisión muy difícil para él. Frank ama a su equipo abrazando a los jugadores no como amigos sino

como parte de la familia. Frank es un excelente esposo, padre, abuelo de nuestros 3 hermosos nietos y uno

en camino. Es un gran hermano, pero lo más importante es que es un hijo maravilloso para sus padres. Esto

es muy duro para Frank porque siempre fue una persona enérgica y siente que su mundo se le está

cerrando. Es muy duro para todos nosotros. Algunos días son mejores que otros. Lo veo luchar cada día con

sus problemas, cuando se despierta 2 o 3 veces por la noche y por la mañana, para vomitar esto es algo

cotidiano. Me mata verlo así, a veces lloro hasta quedarme dormida porque veo el dolor en su cara. Me

mira como si estuviera bien pero sé que no lo está. No sé qué haría sin él.

Ahora estamos esperando a ver si le ponen en la lista de espera de trasplantes de riñón. Ha hecho todas las

pruebas y es un buen candidato. Una vez que esté en la lista, tenemos amigos y familiares que querrían

hacerse las pruebas para ver si encontramos una compatibilidad. Tenemos mucha suerte de tener gente así

en nuestra vida. Si tenemos una coincidencia, el proceso sería mucho más rápido.

Ayudarle a alcanzar esta meta es algo que aliviaría el estrés y las preocupaciones. Frank es el tipo de

persona a la que no le gusta pedir ayuda, pero como su esposa, es importante asegurarse de que este
