In Memory of their mother Susan O’Brien
On July, 26 2019, Sue lost her battle with cancer. Sue was a devoted, loving mother to twins, Kate and Kieran, a devoted loving wife to Shawn, a devoted loving daughter, sister and friend to many. In life, Sue gave much of herself to improve and enrich the lives of both those she knew and those that she did not.
Sue worked for the South Bend Clinic for over 25 years. While there she held several positions, both working with patients directly or behind the scenes. In every position that she held, she was recognized as an advocate: an advocate for patients, an advocate for the employees of the Clinic and an advocate for the Physicians. In everything she did, Sue strove to make the Physicians and employees of The Clinic better at what they did, to make patients better. It is because of these qualities that the Physicians and Employees have started this Go Fund Me Page.
In life, Sue shared many things with her children: the importance of family, her love of running, her sense of humor, her sense of fairness and honesty and her hard work ethic. Most importantly, Sue passed on to her children her wishes that the twins don’t dwell on her passing but live their lives and continue on their path. In the midst of her illness, Kate and Kieran took up their mother’s “charge” and graduated from Adams High School in June of 2019.
Both Kate and Kieran are planning on starting college this fall. Sue’s friends, co-workers and colleagues have set up this Go Fund Me page to raise money to help offset the costs of Kate and Kieran’s college expenses. Money donated to this page will be used to directly pay for Kate and Kieran’s tuition, books, fees and living expenses.
Sue will be greatly missed by all of those that knew her, but this fund will ensure that she will live on in the accomplishments and contributions of her children.
