As some of you may know, Rachel has been diagnosed with Stage II Breast Cancer. Please help us in raising money for Rachel as she begins her battle. It was a shock to get diagnosed with breast cancer at 31 years old a few weeks ago. Rachel will be undergoing a double mastectomy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital on March 7th. Once she has healed from her double mastectomy, it has been recommended that she undergoes chemotherapy and radiation post-operative for prophylactic purposes and hopefully remission. Rachel will then undergo reconstructive surgery thereafter. Rachel has a long road ahead of her and is surrounded by great physicians, nurses, family, and friends.
Rachel has been working as a nurse for 6 years helping patients in various settings including home health, cardiac step-down, and the emergency department. Rachel has been there to help hundreds of patients and families, and she now begins her journey as the patient instead of the nurse. Rachel has had to leave the bedside after receiving her diagnosis which has been hard because her passion is caring for others.
Rachel is hoping to rebuild her life after surgery and treatment. She has always dreamed of becoming a mother and raising a family. Rachel will also need the guidance of a fertility specialist to begin the process of freezing her eggs if she has any hopes of having children one day which has always been her dream.
With the funds raised, Rachel will use these donations for medical and fertility expenses to secure the possibility of having her own family in the future. Rachel, who is the primary policyholder regarding medical insurance, only has coverage for a short period of time since having to leave the bedside to address her breast cancer treatment.
We sincerely appreciate your prayers and well wishes. Thank you isn't enough for the gratitude Rachel feels for your love and support.
