Hi everyone,

As many of you now know I have recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour that has now been identified as a Grade 4, Diffuse Hemispheric Glioma, an aggressive form of brain cancer impacting the body’s ability to move and interpret sensation which in my case affects the right side of my body.

After months of sensation loss in my right leg and arm, a developing persistent headache prompted doctors to conduct a CT scan on my brain which revealed a clear tumour growth and within 24hrs I was flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle where I underwent a successful brain surgery and received my diagnosis of an aggressive brain cancer.

Unfortunately, we have received results that are not favourable, my tumour does not have MGMT methylation which means the likelihood of chemotherapy being an effective treatment is significantly reduced. The tumour also expresses a rare H3 G34-mutation which does not have a lot of clinical data on it or current open clinical trials. I will be undergoing traditional radiation therapy starting early July and myself and those closest to me are all seeking out potential clinical trials and developing treatments to try and get most favourable outcome.

The speed at which things have developed has been overwhelming, particularly the financial burden of treatments, travel and accommodation, specialist consults and the uncertainty at this stage of when I will be able to return to work.
