Travis and Cara flood relief
Donation protected
This is a story about our son Travis Kyle and his wife Cara. In 2005, Travis bought his very first home, with Bill's and my encouragement, to buy his first house in Valley Park, Mo for $123,00. A nice, 900 square foot condo with 2 bedrooms. At the time, the house being in a flood plain never came up until 2006, when they received a letter from FEMA, stating that their property was in a flood plain. So Travis got flood insurance. Then is 2007, they were told that the condo property was in a flood plain but NOT the building. So, they we're told they no longer needed flood insurance. Well, you ALL know what happened these past few days. They are now homeless. The house was flooded almost to the counters and everything inside is destroyed and will need to be replaced. Since their purchase, the home values in that area have plummeted and no one in the complex has been able to sell. With this happening, the value will probably drop all the more. We are figuring the total cost to fix it will be approximately $10,000-$15,000. If any of you can offer any amount, it would be the biggest blessing for all of them. In the meantime, they are staying with us till they can come up with the money to fix it up. If you can't offer to help, PEASE pray for them, that they can get some sort of compensation from the state or from FEMA. They are down and out.
God bless.
