As a part of the current humanitarian crises in Middle East, more than 1000 Syrian refugees have arrived to San Diego in past 6 months. I was introduced to one of such families through Heart4Refugees, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. This family arrived to the states around 3 months ago and is going through a very challenging time both psychologically and financially. I am trying to raise funds to get them some basic household items, warm clothing, blankets and a car. The family consists of seven members that include five daughters (ages 5, 6, 11, 15 and 16) and parents. The girls started going to school but have to miss school on rainy days since they don’t have a car. The father had an open heart surgery a few months back and had to be taken to emergency once due to stress and over exertion since he has to walk the kids back and forth from school every day.
