In May of last year, our cousin Mike made a huge career change and decided to become a flight attendant for United Airlines. It truly was his dream job, traveling the world and helping his fellow man. It was so inspiring to hear how happy he was. Since Mike was a recent hire, when Covid-19 hit, it was promised that he would in fact be laid off. Covid-19 is showing no signs of slowing down, so Mike temporarliy relocated to Arizona to spend time with his dad and to live frugally. During this time, Mike was taking long hikes in the desert to stay fit and to socially distance, but in the process, his sodium level dropped dangerously low and Mike suffered a major debilitating stroke. He has been in the hospital for three weeks and is now finally transitioning to a nursing home in Arizona for rehabilitation. Mike is having to re-learn everything, from walking, talking, eating, and being able to fully care for himself. He is eager to get back onto his feet and start working in any capacity that he can, but he is also aware that he is faced with a long and challenging journey to full recovery. Mike isn't one to ask for help, but hearing our cousin talk about how concerned he was about his unemployment running out and having to try to apply for disability just broke our heart. Disability will help but it isn't a quick process, and we would love to help take any financial strain off of him during his time of recovery. If you have time or a few dollars to spare, please consider helping us spread the word and raise funds to relieve the financial burden a medical event like this can cause.
