Hello, my name is Carlos Marrero, and I need help. I'm a single parent of 2 teenagers who I adore! The picture I posted was when they were 5 and 4 years old, and it's my favorite picture with great memories! My son and daughter are the ones helping me through these difficult times; I have no other family members living in my state. And soon, this fall, my son will be going to college, and that's another expense that I don't know how will manage. I'm not working, and I ran out of my Paid Leave through Washington State.
My story; I had surgery on October 5th, 2020, for liver cancer of the bile duct, where 55% of my liver was cut off and the mass that was in my bile duct. Turns out this cancer is a return of colon cancer I had surgery for 6 years ago, but now residing in the bile duct. Now I'm considered a stage 4 of colon cancer.
The doctor said I would have to be on chemo for the rest of my life because I'm incurable. But I say I will make it because I have God right by my side, and he decides when it's my time, and It's not going to be anytime soon!! Amen to that!! And even though my family is not near, they have me every day in their prayers, and so I feel them so close to me!!
I started 2 types of chemo on November 11th, 2020 through November 24th, 2020 and at the end of that cycle, the last 3 day I couldn't eat or drink. It was so horrible, I was so weak, and shaking like a leaf. I called my nurse and right away they sent an ambulance that was on November 25th, 2020. I spent
Thanksgiving in the hospital, in fact, I spent 20 days trying to recover from my first chemo. The worst time in my life! Finally, I was able to eat and drink, still with difficulties but able. Now I'm on a new form of chemo that really works well, and Thanks to God, I'm doing ok! :) But when I went to get my 5th chemo, I was hospitalized from February 8th through February 12th, 2021, because my blood count was very low and I had a fever. On top of that, I had an Ulcer that went through my intestine in April of 2022 and spent another week in the hospital.
Now in the present, my liver is starting to give up.
I'm asking for friends and family or anyone for any help they can contribute in order to help with my hospital bills and monthly bills.
My kids and I thank you from the bottom of our heart for all you can do!!
