Jay’s Journey

This year my son-in-law, Jay, who is a husband (Kimberly), a father of 2 (Braden and Jaelyn), as well as a pastor of a wonderful church in Evansville, IN had a biopsy of a swollen lymph node. The result of the biopsy showed that there were scattered metastatic adenocarcinoma cells (lung cancer) in one of his lymph nodes. A follow-up PET scan revealed spots in five different parts of his body and a diagnosis of stage-4 lung cancer. This was alarming as he had no symptoms and no health issues or lifestyle choices that would lead to an issue such as this.
He is currently receiving treatments of chemotherapy infusion and immunotherapy infusion every 21 days. The chemo treatments began in August and will continue toward the end of the year. The immunotherapy is expected to continue for up to 2 years. Each treatment is extremely expensive and along with regular radiology, pathology and oncology appointments the bills are starting to mount up. At this point in time, their medical bills are covered at 80% but the remaining 20% is now approaching $50,000 after applying for all the assistance offered to them in the past several months. This number will continue to grow as the 21-day treatments, oncology appointments and 12-week PET scans are necessary for his recovery over the next couple of years.
With the cancer and treatment schedule, along with the determination to get well, the financial burden is the last thing this precious family-of-four needs to concern themselves with. This is where you can come along and help support this family in need. This account is being set up to give friends, family, churches and businesses an opportunity to help with the expenses.
