Leo's Surgery Fund

Goal: Leo is a transgender actor pursuing gender-affirming surgery! Help him pay for the out-of-pocket!

Who:

Leo is a 22-year-old living with his partner, Ace, and their two cats Ashla & Poe. He is an avid reader, animal lover, and artist.

Because of his creative and hardworking personality, Leo is a boon to his communities, wherever they may be; his BFA's stomping grounds at SUNY Purchase in New York, or his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, and his current home of Soquel, California, all these places are uniquely bettered by Leo's presence.

As a passionate writer, actor, and artist, Leo is active in local events, volunteering and working to bring art to people during a time when it is desperately needed. He was recently in a local immersive play put on by the 418 Project in Santa Cruz.

Outside of his creative pursuits, Leo works at a Soquel staple business, the Ugly Mug cafe , where he is a treasured part of a team that stokes the hearth of community through coffee, music, and food.

The Logistics:

After nearly two years of emotional and logistical struggles and barriers, an unexpected phone call from a San Fransisco surgery center gave a finite day: February 28th.

Because of the nature of insurance, we just learned the initial cost of the surgery:

$5,400. We won't know the full cost of the surgery until after: there will be other expenses like mammogram screening, anesthesia, appointments, recovery equipment, and other incidentals.

Thanks to our community we have raised around 2.5k! We have been blown away by the generosity.
