Support for Greg Darden & his Family

Donation protected

To all who love and know my son in law, Gregory Darden and their amazing family:

Greg Darden is fighting a battle that most of us are blessed to have not had to fight, a fight he was in disbelief that would ever happen to him. He truly was a picture of health inside and out. He exercised regularly, ate healthier than most and took his vitamins and supplements religiously.

On July 22, 2021 Greg was taken by his wife Brandy (my oldest daughter) to Thomas Hospital Emergency Malbis and he tested positive for COVID Pneumonia as he was experiencing severe flu/headcold/sinusitus like symptoms. At this time his oxygen levels were tested and discovered to be low, high fever, low potassium and severe dehydration. He ended up staying there for abt 6 hours they treated him and then refused staying (would you expect anything less from him). So, prescriptions were written and he was brought home. As of Monday 7/26/21 he was showing vast improvements, feeling better but then by Tuesday evening 7/27/21 he started regressing and feeling really bad. He was finishing up with all his prescriptions and they called to see about getting refills to which they were told they don't do and he would need to be seen again and at this point he didn't feel bad enough for an emergency visit so the decision was made to just keep riding out the recovery at home. Friday Morning 7/30/21 (his 50th birthday) @ 6am an ambulance was called to come transport him back to the Thomas Hospital Emergency Malbis bc he was too weak to be taken any other way. This is where things really begin to go downhill and all too surreal.

The Darden family is heartbroken they cannot be with him at this time as his wife is home taking care of their 2 kids, Kelsea 17 and Trenton 14 who is special needs and on the Autism Spectrum. Greg is their rock! Greg also has a lot to come home to. His wife Brandy and their kids as well as other family and friends that miss and love him very much and are not ready to be without him. Greg is a force of nature, he makes his presence (and opinion) known everywhere he goes. He is very passionate and active in the local bodybuilding world in both NPC Alabama and NPC Louisiana and has many extended friends and family that are praying for his recovery. He is also one of the most stubborn and hardheaded men I know, so if anyone can fight through this, it would be him.

Today, Greg is stable has strong vital signs, his oxygen has increased to normal levels and they've been able to reduce the ventilator from 100% down to 80%, he still has pulmonary embolism (bloodclots) and is on blood thinners to aid in that, promising xrays show minor improvement daily. It may not be much but it's improvement so we will take it! While he is under sedation and a paralytic to let his body & mind rest, let's come together to support him & his family during this unknown & unbelievable time. The funds we raise here for the family will be used to cover their incoming medical expenses including his ambulance from his home to Malbis and then from Malbis to Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, his days at Malbis, and now Fairhope & everything that will come next.

So many of you have been praying for Greg, his family and the medical team. We can’t thank you enough. Please keep praying. Friends and family have asked how they can help so I am creating this GoFundMe account for those that would like to ease the burden of what we now know will be a long hospital stay and recovery for Greg. We are trusting the Lord to heal Greg's lungs so that he can begin the recovery process and return home to his loving family.

Please share this with all who hold Gregory in their hearts & anyone who feels called to support this beautiful family. We will be updating this page as often as possible once we have new news to share. Many blessings & love to all.
