I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my friend, Mauricio and his parents, Jorge and María. All Funds will go directly to them. In his own words:
Support Jorge & Maria After the Loss of Their Son
The Story: My name is Mauricio Morán and I am the son of Jorge and María Grande
Morán. We are raising funds that will go directly to my parents.
They were living with my younger brother, Ricardo Alberto Grande Morán, who passed away the week of Thanksgiving. He was an amazing brother and son who was the main financial support for my parents.
Our Story: My parents came to the US in 2001, and I joined them with my younger brother on December 12th, 2003. As immigrants, we struggled and fought really hard for everything. My brother was 17 years old when he arrived. He attended high school for a semester, but due to financial circumstances, he decided to work. For most of his life, he worked in construction. As a brother, he supported me multiple times, both financially and emotionally, just as he did for my parents. He even helped me when I was in college to pay for tuition. He was a responsible man with a noble heart; a person who always helped others without expecting anything in return.
The Situation: His loss has been devastating for my retired parents who lived with him. Because my parents came to the US in their 50s and worked different labor jobs, their retirement income is very low. At the moment, they are both unable to work due to severe health issues:
My dad had a brain tumor removed some years ago, which seems to be coming back.
My mother got cancer last year and she is doing better, but still in recovery..
As the only one left to care for them, I am helping as much as I can emotionally and financially. Things have been difficult for the past few years, and without my brother, the situation is now overwhelming. I will love to help them as much as I can so they finally have a peaceful life for the rest of their lives.
How You Can Help: Any funds collected will go directly to their expenses, such as rent, medical bills, utilities, food, moving expenses and more. Because of my mother's immigration situation, they are considering returning to our home country to live out the rest of their lives there. I would deeply appreciate any help you can provide to give my parents some peace during these difficult times.
