A few days ago, my brother-in-law experienced something no one ever expects — his home was completely destroyed in a fire. He lives alone in Los Angeles with his dog, with no close family nearby and very few friends in the area. In the blink of an eye, he lost nearly everything: his belongings, his comfort, his sense of security, and the place he called home.

Right now, he’s staying in a hotel while the fire department investigates, but the costs of even basic needs are quickly piling up. He has no choice but to return to work, facing the unimaginable stress of trying to carry on while figuring out where he’ll sleep each night and how to start over with nothing.

He’s someone who’s always kept to himself and never asked for help — but right now, he truly needs it.
