On 1st July, the day after her 5th birthday, Siya did something incredibly special.

She had over 13 inches of her hair cut off to donate to the Little Princess Trust, where it will help make a real-hair wig for a child who has lost their hair through cancer treatment or another serious illness.

When Siya was just one year old, she had to undergo an operation that meant all of her hair had to be shaved off. Seeing her without her hair was one of the biggest shocks for us as parents. It also made us think about the many children who lose their hair because of cancer treatment and have to live with that reality for months or even years, alongside everything else they and their families are facing.

We realised Siya had a bit of a superpower—her hair grows incredibly quickly! So, over the last four years, we've only trimmed about an inch in total, allowing her hair to grow long enough to be donated. We're so proud that she has been able to give something so meaningful to another child.

We also discovered that while the hair donation is amazing, there are still significant costs involved. It costs around £150for a wig fitter to visit, measure and fit a child, and around £550 to make each wig.

That's why we've also set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money alongside Siya's hair donation. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help the Little Princess Trust continue providing these wigs free of charge to children who need them.
