Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out for help during a challenging time in my life. In December of 2023, I contracted a virus, which caused my colon and intestines to become inflamed and start to shut down. It was within an hour of being admitted to the hospital that I became septic. I was told that had I shown up any later, I would've died.
This, of course, caused me to be admitted for a short but pricey hospital stay. At that time i had to use up all of my vacation days I had saved in order to keep up on my monthly bills.
Jump forward to March of 2024 when I fell and slipped a disc in my back, causing me to miss almost a week of work and to unfortunately lose all feeling in the backs of my legs, as well as not being able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
Then came this past year where I had severe stomach, bowel, and gastric issues, that originally were thought to be cancer but thankfully turned out to be Gastric Ulcers, a Hiatal Hernia, and the return of my childhood illness, gastroesophageal reflux disease. This has brought about more tests, scopes, and hospital stays than I'd like to recall. As of today, I'm in the process of getting scheduled for surgery to have everything removed.
Also this year, I've been diagnosed with genetic sucrase-isomaltase deficiency, which has significantly impacted my daily life and ability to work.
Unfortunately, the only medication I can take for this, my insurance won't cover and would cost over $10k a month if I even tried to pay out of pocket.
Despite my best efforts my job of 15 years let me go after my health started declining again, medical bills are piling up, and I'm struggling to make ends meet. Your contribution would go towards covering these expenses, allowing me to focus on my recovery while I try to find work. At this point I do not qualify for medicaid, and I cannot afford insurance outside of my former employment. The funds I receive go straight to paying off my medical debt and with some luck paying for insurance so I can get my surgery and my medications.
I'm grateful for any support, whether it's sharing my story, donating, or offering words of encouragement. Thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely, Brandon
